Over the last 41 years, LaDIFF has had many incarnations, from a small shop selling handmade crafts to a whole house home goods store to the furniture store you know now in downtown Richmond. We have had 6 showrooms: 2 in Charlottesville and 4 in Richmond… where we have occupied the former Watkins-Cottrell building for the last 23 years. Each move and each showroom meant a new version of LaDIFF.

The time has come for another change, another reinvention, another evolution, and the chance to be DIFFERENT once again. NOW it’s time to prepare for our BIG MOVE. (More on that here.)

We want to start FRESH in the new space. Our big, beautiful 3-story showroom and huge warehouse are BURSTING with $5 MILLION DOLLARS worth of furniture, rugs, lighting, gifts, etc. – that we do NOT want to pack & move!

So… to make the move easier for us, we are having THE $5MILLION MOVING SALE!

WHAT IS ON SALE?

Like most moving sales, there will be progressive discounts as the sale continues. Since our main goal is to sell off our stock, and since our team will be SUPER busy in the early days, we won’t be discounting special orders right away. We will announce the current discounts here on THIS page.

That said, we have a couple of vendors who frown upon our discounting their product EVER. For them we will abide by their rules on ALL special orders for the entire sale period. (But their FLOOR MODELS will be on sale!)

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE RUN OUT OF PRODUCT EARLY?
We have a LOT of furniture in stock to sell – this sale will go on until the end of January.
AND… because supply chain and freight issues have caused unexpected delays this year, some items we had hoped to have during the summer won’t be here until the sale is underway! That means if you shop early, then a few weeks later, you’ll see NEW product in the store! And it will be ON SALE! How fun is that?
ARE YOUR HOURS THE SAME?

We expect this sale to be BUSY, so to have “all hands on deck,” and to give our team proper time to rest up, we will have reduced hours. Store hours during the sale will be:

    • Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11am-5pm
    • Sunday noon-5pm
    • If you need more time with your sales consultant, they will be taking appointments for Wednesdays.
    • We will be CLOSED on Mondays and Tuesdays to refresh and restock
    • HOLIDAY HOURS: Open by appointment 12/21 & 12/22, CLOSED 12/23-12/28 for a long staff break (Moving Sales are HARD work); REOPEN to the public Wednesday 12/29 at 11am.
PICK UP OR DELIVERY?
Everything is priced for immediate pick up or delivery; to avoid storage fees, the longest we can store your purchase is 30 days.
We expect our delivery schedules to fill up quickly, so we encourage you to pick up when possible. Please bring BLANKETS and tie-downs. While we can assist with loading, we will ask for you to secure the items in your car for transit.
We are going to ask that you use our garage area ONLY for pick ups. Please do a small kindness for our customers with mobility issues and leave the 4 garage parking spaces for them.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD YOU BRING?
Bring your colors, your measurements, a sense of humor and your patience, because you might have to wait while for personal assistance and/or to check out.
CAN WE CALL OR EMAIL TO MAKE OUR PURCHASE?
Because we don’t want to move it later, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. If you feel comfortable making a purchase sight unseen and agreeing to this in writing, then you may purchase by phone. That said, we may be so busy helping customers IN the store that we cannot answer the phone or respond to emails on some days.
A FEW MORE 'RULES' AND GUIDELINES
Because the discounts will be changing and because we want to sell off stock before we move, there are no holds, no adjustments on previous purchases, and ALL sales are final – no returns, exchanges, or refunds, so we want you to select very carefully! Everything in stock requires payment in full at time of purchase, and we cannot store your merchandise for longer than 30 days. Anything beyond that will incur a storage fee. (Please see your salesperson for any other special terms when you visit.)

Choosing to buy early so you don’t lose your favorite LaDIFF item or waiting for a deeper discount, hoping the item is still here is the RISK of this kind of sale.
